On October 26, 2011, the Howard L. Nations Law Firm Administrator Andrea Schmauss was one of twenty-three appointees approved by Houston City Council, to sit on the newly formed Independent Police Oversight Board. The board will meet to review internal police investigations relating to possible misconduct involving excessive force, discharge of firearms, serious bodily injury or death, as well as investigations involving mistreatment of citizens by employees of the Houston Police Department.
