Brian H. Tew, M.D., J.D.
Brian H. Tew, M.D., J.D. graduated from The University of Houston Law School and was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1992. Before attending law school, Dr. Tew attended the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio and earned his M.D. in 1978. He spent nine years practicing emergency medicine and family practice in Houston and Sugar Land, Texas. Dr. Tew focuses his practice on medical devices, pharmaceutical litigation and medical malpractice, including birth injuries, traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries.
Dr. Tew is a frequent lecturer in the area of neurologic injuries including Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), as well as head and spinal cord injuries. Dr. Tew has been involved in litigation in multiple states due to the complexity of the medical issues that have arisen.
Dr. Tew’s extensive medical training allows him to abrogate opposing expert witness testimony. He is skilled in deciphering complex medical issues that enables him to address the unique strengths and weaknesses of each case. Bringing his educational and work background together has given him and his clients an advantage in retaining real experts and prosecuting complex medical cases. Dr. Tew is able to determine early in the development of a case which experts are necessary to address a specific medical fact situation, assuring that he is better prepared than the defense. In addition, by working with the medical experts, who are leaders in their fields, he has either won or been able to cause defendants to settle cases by demonstrating that the set forth defense has no merit.
Dr. Tew is an active member of the Melvin Belli Society, Southern Trial Lawyers Association, Houston Trial Lawyers Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association of Justice. In addition, Dr. Tew is a member of the Harris County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association. He served as diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Medicine. Dr. Tew is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court Southern District of Texas, 1992.
